At the end of March 2026, part of the cosmeticsinMind team attended Cosmoprof Worldwide Bologna, an experience that allowed us to explore and analyze firsthand the trends shaping the evolution of the global cosmetics industry.
In the product landscape, the consolidation of Korean influence stands out, both through the rise of K-beauty and the “Koreanization” of Western products. At the same time, there is notable growth in men’s cosmetics, which are becoming increasingly sophisticated and closer, in terms of complexity and routines, to female cosmetics. This is accompanied by the rise of multi-purpose products (hair and body) and treatments focused on wellbeing and spa-like experiences.
A key trend is the transfer of the skincare concept to the haircare universe, incorporating treatment routines inspired by facial care. This includes the introduction of diagnostics, specific steps, and product designs adapted to these new functions, positioning salons as spaces for comprehensive care and elevating the premium perception of the service.
In terms of ingredients and active compounds, innovations such as exosomes stand out, along with key ingredients like rice extract, centella asiatica, and olive oil, the latter with a particularly distinctive positioning in markets such as Spain and Korea. Advances in encapsulation systems using spheres have also been identified.
Regarding formats and packaging, innovative solutions are emerging that allow the dispensing of multiple products from a single container. Examples include new hair dye systems that incorporate both the colorant and the oxidant in separate compartments within the same bottle. Innovation is also evident in new usage formats, with practical and portable designs gaining traction, including accessory-style formats designed to be carried attached to a handbag. To complement this, visual differentiation is becoming increasingly important through the use of disruptive shapes and colors, bi-phase color systems, and a clear trend towards playful, slightly childlike designs, with attractive, rounded, and highly “Instagrammable” packaging. This approach aims to create emotional connection, attract a younger audience, and encourage impulse purchases without compromising the perception of quality. These trends confirm that packaging not only protects the product but also becomes a key element of communication, differentiation, and desirability, essential for standing out in an increasingly visual and competitive market.
Overall, these trends reflect a market moving towards specialization, experience, and wellbeing, where the product becomes part of a ritual and a lifestyle, and where conceptual innovation is just as important as formulation.
At cosmeticsinMind, we continue to analyze these trends to support our clients in developing products aligned with the realities of the sector and European regulatory requirements.
