The plenary meeting serves to give us a brief overview of all the progress that has been made on different pending topics. This meeting took place in October, so some of the items discussed are not latest news. However, as usual, it helps to follow-up.
New opinion of the SCCS on a methodology.
The SCCS does not only publish opinions on cosmetic ingredients. Sometimes, it also reviews possible scientific advances on methodologies that might be used to determine the safety of both ingredients and cosmetic products.
New addendum to the opinion on a preservative.
This ingredient is currently used as a preservative in cosmetic products and already is the subject of an opinion. However, after new information and further estimations, it is necessary to reevaluate the safety of this ingredient in cosmetic products.
Minutes of the meeting group on nanomaterials
In the meetings held by the Working Group on Nanomaterials, we can see what progress is being made with regards to the safe use and risk evaluation of the nanomaterials used in cosmetic products. These meetings are a fast and reliable way of staying ahead of what is soon to come.
