Update to Annexes II and III of European Regulation 1223/2009
Annexes II and III have been modified to update the legal status of three new substances. One of them is a recognised allergen, which will no longer will be needed to be declared on the product label, but will stop being safe for use in cosmetic products.
Draft: amendment to Annexes II and III of the European Regulation.
After several opinions from the SCCS and their revisions, these ingredients have been included in a new draft that prohibits and restricts their presence in cosmetic products.
Opinion on a new ingredient for hair dyes
The SCCS has finalised the opinion on the use of this new ingredient for use in cosmetic products, specifically in hair dyes, giving a new upper limit for use.
Opinion from the SCCS on a direct hair dye
El SCCS has tried to give answers on several occasions on the safety of this ingredient as a hair dye ingredient. This opinion is the result of a fourth submission.
Amendment to Annex V of the European Regulation 1223/2009.
The allowed concentration of a cosmetic preservative has been reviewed. An amendment to the Europan Regulation has been published and will enter into force in the next few days.
Plenary meeting of the SCCS

New request for a scientific opinion on the use of a preservative.
This ingredient comes with a troubled past. It has always been subject of several evaluations in order to determine its safety for use in cosmetic products, This new mandate intends to do the same, with added limits.
Canadá joins in the battle against microbeads
Already several countries have chosen to stay behind the movement that will drive the elimination of these ingredients from cosmetic products. Yesterday, such a popular ingredient for scrubs, now microbeads are in the spotlight.
